Features of zirconium coating
“For a very long time, metal structures have been used as infrastructure in dental aesthetics. However, these metal structures were causing problems because they both damaged the gums and did not give the desired result in terms of aesthetic appearance. This problem has been permanently solved with the zirconium coating technique, which is one of the most important developments in dental aesthetics. Zirconium is a white alloy used instead of gray metal as infrastructure in porcelain coatings. The most important feature of the zirconium alloy is that it has a very high light transmittance feature like our natural teeth. Thanks to this feature, it is used more often especially on the front teeth in terms of aesthetic appearance.
Zirconium coating is a painless procedure
“After the teeth are reduced a little, measurements are taken with sensitive measurement materials and sent to the laboratory. In the laboratory, first the zirconium infrastructure is made on the model in accordance with the desired color and dimensions, then porcelain. Finally, the coating adapted to the tooth is permanently adapted to the tooth with special adhesives. It is placed by shaving 1-2 mm from your natural tooth surface. Zirconium coating is quite long-lasting as long as regular checks are made. When you want to change it later, zirconium coatings are cut and removed, so they do not cause any discomfort. They do not cause tissue loss in the teeth.”
The healing process is short
“No pain or ache is felt during the zirconium dental coating procedure. The operation is performed under local anesthesia. Afterwards, a temporary coating in the color of the tooth is applied to prevent hot and cold sensitivity. In patients without gum problems, zirconium coating treatment is completed in about a week. In patients with gum problems, the procedure takes a little longer, as gum treatment must be performed first.”
